Method for assessing structural gender barriers in an organization: Development and assessment of psychometric properties

In gender studies, there is a lack of instruments to assess the severity inequality in an organization. Gender at structural level organization manifests itself as asymmetry and certain status positions. It indicated by metaphors “glass” phenomena: “glass ceiling”, “sticky floor”, walls”, escalator”, rock”, box”. The article devoted development testing author’s methodology for assessing barriers study was conducted using online survey 2020, with sample 273 employees aged 18 62 years (median 34 years) from various organizations. included, addition developed questionnaire barriers, gen- der individual-behavioral normative levels (“Doing gender” “Undoing scales, “Scale norms that support inequality” (author’s development), “Perceptions Politics Scale” modification K.Kacmar D.Carlson). also included questions about characteristics criterion validity. Reliability analysis, correla- tion modeling were used. results showed good reli- ability SEM analysis show obtained data do not correspond six-factor model. An exploratory factor carried out, resulting one- solution explains 54% variance. A positive correlation found between inequality, presence unfair policies use individual behavioral strategy. negative number women high leadership positions testify favor reliability, constructive validity new instrument. planned further test properties on larger sample.
